Drawing Lessons with Children’s Illustrators

Many artists and children's illustrators have provided posted resources to encourage children's creativity while at home.  Below I have a sampling of some of the many resources that are available for children and parents.

How to Draw ...... is a series of how-to-draw videos.  The artist, Rob, has his own kids and their friends draw along with him.      Tune in and see how drawing is made fun and easy.

Mo Willems is a children's author and illustrator of Don't Let the Pigeons Drive, Knuffle Bunny, and many more.  He has created a series of videos teaching students how to draw in his Youtube channel "Lunch Doodles."

Wendy MacNaughton is an illustrator and graphic journalist based in San Francisco.
MacNaughton's #drawtogether classes include silly songs, deep breathing exercises, open-ended questions, and lots of time to relax and draw.  The recorded classes can be seen on Youtube #Draw Together.

Chronicle Kids COLLAGASAURUS
Inviting young readers into the Smithsonian’s online library, Jon Scieszka and Steven Weinberg have created a free brochure for download called “How to Make a COLLAGASAURUS!” Modeled after AstroNuts, the brochure guides children through the Smithsonian’s archive in search of material that helps them create their own collage.

Read. Dream. Share. Coloring Book
In honor of Children’s Book Week, the Children’s Book Council has made a 23-page coloring book available in individual pages and as a full download for free. Each page celebrates this year’s theme for Children’s Book Week, which is Read. Dream. Share. Drawings include works by Jessica Love (r.), Sarah Jung, Marcos Navarro, Katie O’Neill, Greg Pizzoli, and others.

Draw Every Day with JJK
Hey, Kiddo author and illustrator Jarret J. Krosoczka has taken to YouTube to offer a daily drawing lesson for people of all ages. Krosoczka will record a video every weekday at 2 p.m. ET for the coming weeks
